Leave Policies
Personal/Annual Leave
For the full 12 months of employment, employees are eligible for their contractual annual leave. BEF Staff members can take a total of 20 days of annual leave (for full-time staff), 10 days (for part-time staff) within the project year (April – March? OR Jan - Dec?) with a maximum of 10 days at a time. Annual leave cannot be taken (10 days max) in consecutive months.
Leave for Voting
Sick Leave
BEF staff members can take a maximum of 10 days of sick leave within the project year (January – December). Additionally, every staff member is entitled to a maximum of three days of leave per year for taking care of sick family members as a family care leave. Family members include legal parents, a spouse or partner, legal siblings, legal children, grandparents, and a guardian with a serious or emergency health condition.
Sick leave may be used for any of the following purposes:
Personal illness or incapacity of the staff;
Forced quarantine of the staff by a public health official;
To care for the staff’s dependent children who are ill;
Use of a prescription drug that impairs job performance or safety;
Medical or dental appointments of the staff or dependent children, when such appointments cannot reasonably be scheduled during off-duty time;
Substitute Holiday
Depending on how long the trip is (how many days fall on weekends or public holidays)
Bereavement Leave
Death of a family member
The following applies in case of death of an immediate family member. Bereavement leave is granted to staff members in case of the passing of the following immediate family members only:
1. Staff’s legal parents
2. Staff’s spouse or partner
3. Staff’s legal siblings
4. Staff’s legal children
5. Staff’s grandparents
6. Staff’s guardian
Every staff member is entitled to a maximum of 10 days bereavement leave per case of death. Any additional days must be taken from staff’s annual leave balance.
Work-From-Home
An agreement between the employer and the employees who prefer to have the work from home privileges owing to a mild sickness or the onset of menstruation.
Maternity Leave
3 months would be allowed from the starting date of the leave. It is not allowed to add up with other types of leave. But, if the medical recommendation letter is submitted, the organization can allow adding up with other types of leave. Staff members can earn full salary as if on duty.
Paternity Leave
A staff member can get 15 working days with full salary to take care of the family after his wife has delivered a baby.
Training Leave
Any staff member is eligible for the Training Leave depending on the schedule of events. Training/conference/workshop information must be submitted and approved by management prior to any such leave. Training leave is paid leave.
without pay Leave
An approved temporary absence from duty in a nonpay status re-quested by an employee. This leave should be negotiated in advance.
Leave for Contagious Disease
If staff or somebody in the family of the staff is suffering from contagious disease, this leave hinders him/her not to go to the work place. The staff is recognized to be in work.
The recommendation letter of a medical doctor should be submitted.
This leave can be permitted up to one week in normal condition – 10 days in special case depending on the situation of contagious disease.
A staff can earn full salary as if on duty.
